The Training

This is a 12-hour course ideal for peer coaches and select faculty and staff who wish to learn the skills to help encourage, inspire, and support change. Participants will do a deep dive into coaching skills, principles and tools. By the end of the course, they will have become positive change agents who can help students overcome challenges and create momentum towards setting and achieving goals.

Learning Objectives:

  • Gain an appreciation for the role of a Coach

  • Learn and practice coaching techniques and influence skills

  • Learn about motivation, rewards, and recognition and how to maximize the value of each

  • Gain knowledge about the nervous system and how it contributes to well-being

  • Learn about the stages of change and coaching strategies to meet people where they are

  • Learn coaching ethics, scope of practice, and the steps to holding an effective coaching session

  • Increase awareness of personal boundaries and cultural/ personal differences that influence them
